Farewell Fellow Mancat

(It's an old picture, but once of the better ones I have of him...)

I have some sad news to pass along today. Dude Newman has run off to the Rainbow Bridge. He had developed cancer and was really suffering towards the end. Even then he refused to 'settle down' and just go live inside more often. So his owners brought him in and helped him let go of all of the pain he had been having. He was almost 13.

While he wasn't a 'regular' on the blog, and I wasn't particularly fond of the lug, he did make Mombean happy while he was her cat, and it always made her smile when she saw him around the neighborhood. According to her, he was 'a really good cat'. How can I argue with that.

Take care, dude. You know who you're supposed to check in with when you get up there. I'm counting on you.

Mancat Monday

WHY ARE YOU UNDER MY BED?

Because your Woman totally digs me.

Break it up, boys. Newman came in because he was hungry. I gave him some food and he wandered in for a bit. A few hours later he sauntered out, so breathe, Monty.

Well, he did pwn the slobberhound across the snout, so Newman can't be that bad...

(like feta cheese on the sidewalk for a month bad....)

He'd better have not bothered my stuff under there. I left my catnip cigar under the bed!

The Newman

(Older pic in different home!)

Let me introduce you to Newman, the Cat Who Came Before Monty Q. aka, who you smelled when you first moved in, Monty.

Hmmph.

Yeah yeah, not talking to me. I adopted Newman when HeBean and I lived in Vermont.

Figures, he's built like a cow...

ENOUGH. Do you want to hear this or not?

Phhht.

Mancats. Go stare at Millie's tum while I go on.

WOO! ::faints::

Anyway, when we first adopted Newman it was just HeBean and I, KidBean arrived about a year later. Newman didn't seem to care about KidBean at first-the cat was pretty laid back to be honest. When we had went to the shelter he was out cold while the other cats raised a ruckus. He was a keeper!

We moved here right when KidBean started toddling about, and he REALLY liked Newman. Not rough, just average toddler love. Newman started going put to prowl around this time too-he got out once and came home when called, so it seemed the best. But one day he didn't come home.

I found out a few weeks later that he had literally adopted another family up the road. he's still an outside cat but picked another house to haunt. They liked him so he became their cat, although he still walks everywhere in the neighborhood. (Everyone knows Newman!)

While he usually hasn't strolled down to our house before, he apparently wanted to wish me a Happy Birthday last week, he's always welcome here, door will always be offered open to Newman.

What did I miss?

Millie!tummy!

The 'New' Guy

I don't even know where to start when it comes to that cat. I thought he was some random dude that needed a quick bite or somethin', even though he's as broad as a friggin' barn and MomBean was being nice.

But. But. BUT!

She knows this cat. Known him for years! And do you know why?!?

HE USED TO BE HER CAT. AS IN USED TO LIVE HERE BEFORE ME. IN MY HOUSE.

I can't...it's too much to bear. I need to go lay down before finishing the story.

Who you callin' fat, chub-boy?

Be nice, Newman.
